One of the venues in the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) area was again used to hold the first dose of mass vaccination for journalists from various media in the DKI Jakarta area. The vaccination activity which takes place at the GBK Basketball Hall is held for 3 days from 25 to 27 February 2021. The vaccination process is divided into 3 sessions in one day, namely the first session at 08.00-10.00 WIB, second session at 10.00-12.00 WIB, and the third session 13.00-16.00 WIB. It is targeted that as many as 5.500 journalists and media crews will undergo the COVID-19 vaccination.

Hundreds of journalists and media crews have started to come to the GBK Basketball Hall since early morning. Journalists and media crews queued orderly and carried out the prevailing health protocols. At around 09.15 WIB, the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo who was accompanied by the Minister of Health, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, the Minister of Communication and Information, Johnny G. Plate and the Chairman of the Press Council, Mohammad Nuh directly observed the vaccination activities starting from initial screening to post-vaccination.

In his press statement, President Joko Widodo said that the COVID-19 vaccination activity is an effort to provide protection for journalists and media crews who carry out their daily duties directly in the field and often interact with sources and other figures. This mass vaccination is also an implementation of his promise at the peak of the National Press Day celebration which was held on February 9, 2021.
"In accordance with what I said during the national press day, that we want to prioritize the press to be vaccinated, and Alhamdulillah it has started for 5.500 media crews whose processes are all running smoothly, going well and we hope to provide protection to media crews in the field who often interact with the public, with sources, ”said President Joko Widodo.
