The Minister of BUMN of the Republic of Indonesia who is also a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Erick Thohir visited the proud venue of Indonesia, the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (GBK) on Tuesday, February 3, 2021. Main Stadium is one of the venues in the GBK area. This venue is a witness to history because it is not only successful in making achievements in the field of sports, but Indonesia is also trusted by the international community to host international sports parties, one of which is the Asian Games and Asian Paragames, recalled Erick Thohir.
Now, Indonesia is undergoing a bidding process to host the biggest four-year multievent, the Olympics in 2032. Indonesia has ample opportunity to meet the criteria in the bidding, because Indonesia has proven to be a successful host in holding the 2018 Asian Games. The bidding process to host the 2032 Olympics will begin in 2023 and the determination will be determined in 2024. Indonesia will compete with several countries, namely Australia, China, India, Germany, Qatar, and Korea.
