The Minister of Youth and Sports inaugurated the 841 Athlete who will compete in the biggest sporting event in Southeast Asia, the 30 SEA Games 2019 in Manila, Philippines. The inaugural activity that was held at the Bung Karno Basketball Hall (GBK) on 27 November 2019 was attended by the Chairperson of the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI), Chair of the Indonesian National Sports Committee, representative of the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Managing Director of GBK and Chair of the Indonesian Contingent along with hundreds of representatives of athletes.
The series of activities for the inauguration of the Indonesian Contingent for the SEA Games 2019 included the reading of the Decision on Athlete Determination, the Indonesian Contingent Readiness Report, the KOI General Chairperson Report, Recitation of Athlete Promises, Speech of the Minister of Youth and Sports, Submission of the Red and White Flag, to the procession of flag olfaction by all Indonesian Contingents.
In his remarks, the Minister of Youth and Sports said that all athletes who were sent to the SEA Games held the mandate to make Indonesia famous through achievements in the field of sports. Despite negative news popping up, the Minister requested that the athletes stay focused in competing and not make unfavorable news a burden.
After the inauguration at the GBK Basketball Hall was completed, the Indonesian contingent entourage for the SEA Games 2019 left for Bogor Palace to be officially released by President Joko Widodo. The series of 2019 SEA Games began on November 30 to December 11 2019 in Manila, Philippines.
